For over 10 years, I had the honor of being a photojournalist for Street Talk Magazine of Texas. My boss, Jaime Vidal, was one of my biggest supporters—always encouraging me, always pushing me to do more, and always reminding me that my work mattered. Because of him, I was able to feature so many artists in the onda and share stories that meant so much to our community. Jaime, I will truly miss you. You gave so many years of your life to Tejano music, to supporting artists, and to creating a platform for journalists and photographers like me to be seen and heard. I’ll never forget our last conversation, when you told me, “Thank you, Mariaelena, for sticking with me and Street Talk Magazine all these years.” But the truth is—thank you, Jaime… for believing in me, for trusting me, and for opening so many doors.
